I Don't Believe in Astrology.
One thing to get out of the way: you don’t need to believe in astrology to hang out here. Hell, I don’t “believe” in it either. Astrology is a tool I use, because it has proven its reliability and relevance to me over time. I’ve always been empirical about my studies- does it apply? Can it be repeated for other people, not just me? I don’t know how it works, but it does. So I roll with it now, and keep stretching my understanding. But I’m pretty vocally against the idea that an astrology reading should be taken on faith- that “the stars declare it” or that “my Mars (or Pluto, or Neptune rising, or whatever) made me do it.”
I call bullshit on that.
We all have a set of tendencies in our personal chart- strengths and weaknesses to harness and conquer- but ultimately we make the choice to react to life events in the way we do. Each moment is a choice. Astrology brings those personality quirks to your attention, so you can react and act more consciously, instead of blindly repeating the same patterns over and over.
So if you are curious about astrology, but you think some of the stuff I write about is a little weird, that’s cool. Use the parts that work for you. Or I may not be weird enough for you, but that’s rarely a problem!
Your horoscope–your whole horoscope, not that little sun sign snip in the newspaper– is like a treasure map. It’s not predestination, it’s possibility. It shows you what you’re prone to, your talents and challenges, the things you will have to work on. It’s a tool to help you understand yourself better, so you can get to where you want to go, and do the thing you want to do.
So, where do you want to go? What do you want to do?
