Since the moon is due to make this aspect in my own chart shortly, it’s high time to take another look at the moon’s transits to Chiron- specifically when the moon is opposing your natal Chiron. This came up in the comments section of an earlier post about the cycles of moon transits, but it deserves its own discussion.
When the moon is opposing your natal Chiron, it often creates urges to escape your past problems or traumas, often by behaving in ways that end up being more harmful than helpful. It can also trigger memories of early childhood losses or other painful events. Chiron is about wounds that don’t heal, but it also is about healing.
Since this transit can also create urges to reconnect with lost loved ones and repair those wounds, when the transiting moon is in opposition to Chiron it can be a good time for writing letters, journaling, or other cathartic actions. Be mindful that you’re especially sensitive at this time too, so engaging people that have hurt you before can feel more painful if the situation has not changed. It’s a great time for writing those letters you burn or bury instead of mailing, if a situation calls for that kind of catharsis (or pyromania).
Remember, the Moon travels around your whole chart every month, and so makes every aspect to every planet and point at least once. Since I have Chiron in Taurus, for me the transiting moon is opposite my natal Chiron when it reaches 21 degrees of Scorpio, once a month. I also get some extra emphasis from it, since my Chiron is at the point of a yod, inconjunct my Neptune and Sun/Jupiter sextile. Transits opposing or conjoining the apex of a yod will “activate” that part of your chart- the energy involved will depend on the nature of the planets involved.
Where does Chiron fall in your chart? What’s your experience when the moon sets it off?

The most resonant quickie definition I have for Chiron comes from Lynn Koiner. She says it represents pain you have to go through to feel better.
I don’t watch the Moon, but the Sun did hit my natal Chiron yesterday. I had been having low-grade migraines for several days and called up my Craniosacral therapist friend. She got me on her table and worked on my occiput. At one point, she pressed down on this spot and I felt a knife blade of pain going through my brain. It went all the way up to the top of my head, even though the pressure was on the occiput. It was a lot like migraine pain. My head felt so much better after she released the spot.
Then I came home and saw on astro.com that the Sun was conjunct my natal Chiron.

Kinda know how u folks feel, I was born w/ a Sun opposition Moon at 1’30 degrees. So now i am going through trans Chiron conjuncting natal Moon 0 deg applying. So chiron is in opposition my Sun 1 degree separating….also throw in the mix trans Neptune oppo 0 degree Sun applying..etc etc w/ the conj my Moon applying.
So yeah i think this is my 2 of 3 hitting my Full Moon aspect and its not so bad as the first but i guess luckily i have transiting Mars oppo natal Asc 0 degree applying which i been reading lots of Military book on Afghanisan
Tho’ not fun at all guys! ps…i seen that my 2 yr old son has Asc conjunct Pluto 0 degree and Asc conjunct Galactic center 1 degree.

JUST A HEADS UP HERE! sorrr, was reading transit info on astro.com from April 2010, today’s data is similiar w/ trans Chiron and Neptune, tho’ Mars is making a applying conjunction to Mercury.
thanx, totally love this site, hope to find some info on Galactic center and am born w/ Mutable Grand Cross and Grand Air trine that is in a Kite Formation.
i guess it feels normal that i feel so intensely suicidal, feels like i am going thru a past Pluto transit. tho’ sorta like the Neptune, cuz i am way more fluid w/ my visualizing and moving energy.
With two major formations like that in your chart, things can get really intense even when you’re not under major direct transits. When everything is connected one transit can set off everything in your chart at once.
Intense times bring intense thoughts and feelings… if you’re contemplating suicide please take a look at this page: http://www.metanoia.org/suicide/

I find that when the moon opposes my Chiron, I am sort of resistant to compassion and I blurt out words/actions that may indeed be hurtful, mostly to cover my own weaknesses and pain. Sort of the shadow self ruling my thoughts and actions. Sometimes not cool. Knowing that I have the transit coming up helps me to be more aware of my behavior.
I have this transit occurring now and I am taking steps in the legal process to bring a family member who molested me to justice. It is stirring up a lot of painful memories and trauma from the abuse I experienced as a child. And on this day I will be calling the police department to report this crime even though it happened many years ago. It’s as if I’m doing it for my inner child because no one else at the time did what should have been done. It is very painful and difficult but I know it will make me stronger. I’ll be glad when this is all over
