On Thursdays I answer astrology questions I’ve received through email or the search bar. If you have a question, contact me and yours might be answered next!

We married on March 19th 2010, despite the moon applying to a square with Neptune, simply because we wanted a Friday morning wedding. How do you think this square can surprise us later?

Earlier this year I wrote a multi-part series on choosing a wedding date through astrological indicators. An important part of the deliberate date-choosing process is evaluating the applying aspects of the moon and selecting a date where the moon’s final aspect before going void of course (the empty period, twelve times a month, between when the moon makes an aspect and when it changes signs). Applying, or waxing aspects, are always stronger than waning aspects because the energy is building up to the precise angle- the strongest point.

The big downside of a moon square Neptune aspect in a wedding chart is that it can give the two of you a tendency to resist reality. Your emotions about situations that arise will be more muddled, especially if you have a strong or afflicted Neptune in your own chart… the two of you may have to work harder at filtering out emotional reactions and seeing things in your marriage as they really are.

An aspect like this in a wedding chart can be mitigated or counteracted with good communication; your individual emotional and communication styles will play a large role in this. How the two of you interact in those areas, and your joint approach to communication and strong emotions, can be evaluated in synasty and composite charts. The condition of the moon, Mercury, and Neptune in your various charts will be indicators of this.

A wedding chart will never make or break a marriage. A strong couple will flourish despite a poor date, and a couple without the skills to work at their relationship will not be able to avail themselves of the gifts in even the best wedding chart.

Congratulations on your marriage! Whatever the date, if you both consciously work to continue building your relationship, it will be a fine success.
