I’m Shannon Garcia.

About me?

Reader, writer, arithmetic-er. Astrologer. Pluto person. Music fan. HUGE nerd. Secret baker. Lover of plants and birds and neat-looking rocks. Into art, architecture, and beautiful math. Mildly obsessive. Seriously curious.

(There used to be a stuffy, important-sounding about page here, but it was all the kind of stuff people use to try to impress each other, and who am I kidding? You’re smarter than that. )

What I do:

I’m a astrologer and creative mentor– I help people uncover real, practical guidance from their hearts and horoscopes.

I think of myself first as a support crew for people with a real Pluto connection: either in their birth chart, or while slogging through a difficult transit. I feel really strongly about the human struggle- the heartbreak and pain and love of life and the quest to understand what we’re supposed to be doing. I’ve been down in the pit, and it’s pretty rotten, but now I’m working to help people survive and thrive through similar tough times. The first 17 years of my life were a long series of difficult, near-constant Pluto transits (sometimes more than one at a time!) and I’m undergoing a more harmonious set of the same these days, so we have quite the working relationship by now!

From this I’ve learned more about what inquisitive, complex people need so they can spend less time feeling overwhelmed and stuck, and more time healing themselves, becoming whole, and enjoying life! I love to teach people things they can use to get where they want to go, which ends up being a real grab bag of stuff: astrology, tarot, creative unblocking, astronomy, mythology, feng shui, color theory, intuitive work… I’m spiritual, but not terribly woo-woo-earth-mother about it. I’m not really that sort, and my people appreciate my grounded-in-reality stance. I’ve been reading tarot since 1994, and studying astrology nearly as long; these have been my professional tools of choice since 2006.

I believe in:

  • Order in the universe. Math, music, plants, bees, quarks… everything goes together.
  • The power of the siesta.
  • People’s ability to find their calling and be amazing.

I’m against:

  • Proselytizing. I do stuff, and write stuff, but I will never cram it down your throat or tell you it’s the ONLY RIGHT WAY to do things. If you’re not into everything here I won’t be offended, honest.
  • Dogma. Use what works for you, drop what doesn’t.

Some other stuff about me:

I was born on the tail of a full moon.

I’m a Le Cordon Bleu chef; I also teach people ways to eat and live that help them feel healthier and better. So it’s cool if you like that kind of thing too.

TOTAL bookworm. I’ve been building my library since I was in elementary school, so it feels like my lifework sometimes. Still haven’t settled on Dewey or Library of Congress though. Browsing or research? Decisions, decisions.
